Rang Bahar activities as an educational and training centre were started way back in 1980. When KALA ABHIVYAKTI and GYANSATRA workshops were organised. During these workshop, students were imparted training in drama and theatre crafts through lectures by intellectuals and professionals from various media to name some of them are : Mr. Niranjan Bhagat, Dr.Bhagwati Prasad Pandya, Jai Shanker Sund, Jashwant Thaker, Mrs. Dina Pathak and Pandit Satyadev Dunbey, Principal S.R.Bhatt and many other dignitories across the country.
Rang Bahar set up its branches in Surat, Delhi, Bombay, Baroda and New Jersey(1988), where young people are trained in various cultural activities. Folk dance- workshops are regularly organised in tribal areas, general dilpoma courses in acting, Music and Dance are organised by Rang Bahar in collaboration with various schools in Ahmedabad. This academy was set-up in 1990 on the World Theatre Day, in March 27th and named THE INDIAN SCHOOL OF PERFORMING FOLK ARTS. |
